# LGBTQ+ Inclusion Policy

### Purpose

AIC is committed to maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ people.

People should not experience discrimination, harassment, exclusion or hostility because of sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression or related personal circumstances.

### Policy Statement

AIC has zero tolerance for homophobia, biphobia, transphobia or any other anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination.

### Expected Behaviour

Everyone working with AIC is expected to:

* treat LGBTQ+ colleagues, contractors, suppliers and customers with respect
* avoid intrusive personal questions
* use respectful language
* respect privacy and confidentiality
* avoid jokes, comments or assumptions based on sexual orientation or gender identity
* challenge unacceptable behaviour where appropriate
* raise concerns where standards are breached

### Unacceptable Behaviour

Unacceptable behaviour includes:

* homophobic, biphobic or transphobic comments
* jokes or mockery
* deliberate misgendering
* outing someone without consent
* intrusive questions about someone’s body, relationships or identity
* exclusion based on sexual orientation or gender identity
* refusing to work with someone because they are LGBTQ+
* hostile or degrading conduct
* retaliation after a concern is raised

### Privacy and Confidentiality

A person’s sexual orientation, gender identity or transition history is private.

It must not be disclosed without consent unless there is a lawful and necessary reason.

### Facilities, Systems and Records

Where practical and lawful, AIC will seek to ensure that systems, records and working arrangements respect people’s identity and privacy.

### Customer and Supplier Environments

Where AIC personnel are working in customer or supplier environments, AIC still expects respectful treatment.

Concerns should be escalated where external behaviour breaches this standard.

### Reporting and Action

Concerns should be raised with an appropriate manager, delivery lead, commercial lead or company director.

AIC will take appropriate action where this policy is breached.
